My Approach

Presenting difficulties are assessed in relation to the child’s stage of development and individual characteristics whilst also taking account of the contexts in which the child is functioning. These might include: the family, school and peer relationships.

For expat  children, there are often additional factors associated with the nature of family life away from their home country and adjustment following frequent moves and changes.

The therapeutic approaches I use include:

Behavioural Psychology

Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy

Systemic Family Therapy

Child-centred Play Therapy

My overall approach is to focus on enabling children and their families to discuss the difficulties they are experiencing and to work collaboratively with them to develop positive strategies for change.
